Aphrodisiacs are aromatic foods, recipes and potions believed to be sexual and sensual enhancers found in nature. Many of these potent love tools and libido lifters have been in use for centuries. There are dozens of known aphrodisiacs in the world. Is it time for you to learn about some of them?

An Oil That’s Essential

Ylang Ylang is an essential oil derived from the flower of the same name. The word means “flower of flowers.” Taken as aromatherapy, Ylang Ylang is a sexual healer. The finest oils come from the yellow flowers, although the plants also bloom in other shades. Ylang Ylang slows down the pulse and steadies a heart that’s beating irregularly due to stress. The oil is also thought to be emotionally soothing and a natural anti-depressant.

Many aphrodisiacs can be found at the grocery store. Celery, for example, has a long history of being a food of love. It contains the vitamins A,C,B,D and loads of minerals. The seeds themselves are thought to be aphrodisiac. Celery is mostly water and is hydrating. Snack on it instead of crackers or chips and you’ll stay sexy slim!

Caviar is a famous aphrodisiac. Real caviar comes from the eggs of the sturgeon, an ancient bony fish native to subtropical, temperate and sub-arctic rivers, lakes and coastlines of Eurasia and North America. Caviar contains large amounts of vitamins A,D, B1, B2 and B6, as well as phosphorous, all known stimulants to the circulatory system.

Oysters are not called the food of love for nothing. Pure protein, they are an energy booster that won’t leave you feeling stuffed. Eaten raw and on the half shell, they arrive in front of you bathed in their own salty juice, a brine that closely resembles a woman’s vaginal juices.

Chocolate was actually banned from monasteries centuries ago because it was considered too sexy! Chocolate contains caffeine, a stimulant, and theobromine, known to raise blood pressure. Chocolate also contains phenylethylamine, a natural amphetamine. The combination of these natural drugs makes chocolate a food that gives you a lift. Neuroscientists say that chocolate contains pharmacologically active substances that have a similar effect on the brain as marijuana. While it doesn’t exactly get you high, chocolate does give a person that warm ‘n fuzzy feeling also associated with love and sex.

Ginger is aphrodisiac because it gives the eater a slight flush. All over the world, ginger has been used to spike a lady’s drink to naturally stimulate her. Makes you feel a bit differently now about ginger ale now, doesn’t it?

Two more food tips: eating a lot of watermelon will make semen and vaginal secretions taste sweeter. Eating asparagus will do the opposite. Don’t like that rank smell your urine gets after eating a few spears? Don’t eat asparagus if you’re planning on making love after dinner.
