Jeff Berner, a former San Francisco Chronicle columnist, specializes in writing about career change and the trend of independent home office businesses. He is a contributing editor for Work at Home magazine, and his guest columns appear regularly in the Marin Independent Journal in Marin County, California.
Berner regularly conducts seminars for professionals grappling with downsizing and transitioning to second careers. On the subject of small and home office business, he has addressed the Commonwealth Club of California, Pacific Bell, Macworld Expo, Comdex/PacRim, and Strategic Research Institute.
Berner also consults with corporations on image and branding. His best-known project is Sun Microsystems' "Java" Internet software, now recognized by millions worldwide. His work appears on numerous Web sites, including Apple Computer's Small Business Site, and in Business at Home magazine. His roster of corporate clients includes: US West, Nikon USA, Apple Computer, Sun Microsystems Inc, MCI Telecommunications, Broderbund Software, Atari Corporation, Farallon Computing, E-Stamp Corporation, and Okidata.
