This is a traditional mojito recipe. The muddling of the ingredients helps ensure that all the flavors are well blended. If you like fun presentation, try serving with a layful paper straw and a decorative stir stick to keep the different flavors well mixed together.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon organic raw sugar
  • 1 lime, cut into 4 wedges (set 2 aside for garnish)
  • 5 sprigs fresh mint
  • ½ cup white rum (we like 10 Cane)
  • 2 cups club soda
  • 2 cups crushed ice

Preparation

  1. Get two highball glasses, and place 1 teaspoon of sugar into each.
  2. Cut lime into wedges, and squeeze juice from a lime wedge into each glass, then drop the wedge in. Add 2 sprigs of mint.
  3. Use a spoon or muddler to mash sugar, lime juice, and mint together in the bottom of the glasses.
  4. Fill each glass about half full with crushed ice.
  5. Pour ¼ cup rum into each glass. Fill the glasses with club soda, stir, and garnish with additional lime wedges.

Tip

A muddler helps get the best muddle and brings out the flavor in the mint.
