Pomegranate Sangria

Pomegranate juice contains antioxidants at higher levels than do many other fruit juices. Antioxidants provide several heart-protecting benefits, including reducing LDL, or “bad” cholesterol. So sit back and really enjoy this cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle red wine (we like Garnacha and Tempranillo Crianza)
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice
  • ┬╜ cup brandy
  • ┬╜ cup Grand Marnier or Cointreau
  • ┬╝ cup simple syrup (equal amounts of organic raw sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)
  • ┬╝ cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1 large orange, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 organic green apple, cored, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup organic red grapes, sliced in half

*Choose organic whenever possible

Preparation

SIMPLE SYRUP

  1. Using equal amount water and sugar, pour both into small saucepan, and using medium heat, cook until sugar dissolves ΓÇö then let cool.

SANGRIA

  1. Combine all ingredients in pitcher. Cover + refrigerate for at least 3 hours – will stay good for 2 days. Serve over ice.
